Our ceramics center features three dedicated ceramics rooms stocked with everything needed for creating incredible pottery and sculptures, including two large Skutt electric kilns with extremely high success rates, Shimpo VL Whisper pottery wheels, and a range of Amaco cone glazes – a haven for both beginner and advanced ceramic artists.
Are you more than a little clay-curious? Take these 8-week, in-depth courses and grasp the basics in Pottery and Sculpture. Students get an initial allotment of clay and can access the studio outside of class time during The Amp’s operating hours to continue their projects throughout the course duration. Our Ceramics Extraordinaire, Kaylee Gernant (The Amp’s Ceramics Director) previously taught Ceramics at County College of Morris, and boasts an amazing portfolio of mesmerizing sculptures and beautiful pottery pieces.
For those clay-curious beginners who want to try out ceramics before diving into a full course, these one-off lessons are perfect! We have workshops to give the pottery wheel a spin, try your hand at sculpting & more!
We invite pairs of all types— from couples to BFFs — to our Ceramics Date Night Workshops, where you can try something new together and create tokens of your bond! Each couple gets a wheel and clay, then works together in a guided session to create a small set of cups, plates, or bowls! At the end of the date, you select your glazes and pick up your finished pieces two weeks later at the studio after we’ve fired them!
Enjoy the whimsy of Autumn at The Amp with Ceramics Workshops that include Leaf Pressing and sculpting Ceramic Pumpkins! Create your very own, handmade, Fall-themed pieces out of clay with guidance from our Ceramics Director, Kaylee Gernant. At the end of each Workshop, you pick your glazes and then pick up the finished piece within 2 weeks after we’ve fired them!
Welcome to our Clay Caverns at The Amp! While there are many ways to interact with our ceramics studio, our favorite is our Clay Caverns membership program. This program offers members more freedom of access to our space than a typical class or workshop, so that they can create their next clay masterpiece in their own way and at their own pace!

If you’re interested in a ceramics membership, please fill out the form below.
Prospective members will be asked to briefly meet with our Ceramics Director to talk about their experience with the medium and about the type of work they’re interested in making. That session will also include a mandatory equipment and safety training component to ensure that all members know how to properly use the equipment.
Members are allowed to bring in their own outside ceramics materials to use! If there’s a specific glaze or clay that you prefer over our in-house materials, please feel free. All we ask is that personal glazes or clay first be approved by our Ceramics Director, to make sure we can use them safely in our kilns.
Please note: due to our class and workshop schedule and the 24/7 nature of our Deluxe Membership, we cannot accept all membership applicants. Pursuant to this, we reserve the right to deny any application.
